I teach Psychology courses, specifically General Psychology, Lifespan Psychology, and Abnormal Psychology.

Taught courses such as Cognitive Psychology, Sensation and Perception, Adult Development, and Research Methods. Served on the Institutional Review Board, Faculty Development Committee, and several Hiring Committees. Mentored several student research projects and chaperoned students presenting research at regional conferences.

Worked with Dr. Eric Cooper studying visual perception. Mentored undergraduates in research and taught several courses as the primary instructor, including Brain and Behavior, Learning and Memory, Media Psychology, and Research Methods. My thesis and dissertation focused on visual perception, particularly on the impact of categorical perception. Previous research investigated the role that categorical perception plays in drawing inaccuracies. Through this research, I found that people use broad categories when perceiving the relative orientation, size, and position of parts of an object. These categories lead to systematic errors in participants' drawings. In addition, I have investigated training methods that reduce these categorical errors in novice artists and how the ability to draw a portrait relates to ability to avoid these categorical errors.
