● Primary role was the investigation of reported elevated nutrient levels in freshwater bodies across Wales. ● Investigated the role of several catchment liming techniques for treating streams as part of Llyn Brianne Acid Waters Project. ● Role included the statistical analysis of large data sets using a range of programs (Excel, minitab, R, Access and in-house software Wiski and Aardvark) and producing technical reports on the investigations findings. ● Responsible for routine data checking, analysis and reporting of water quality data across Wales.● Provided technical support and advice on water quality archives and validate and maintained data on water chemistry databases.● Provided support to NRW’s metal mines group, including the ongoing evaluation of the Frongoch Metal Mine Remediation Project.

● Undertook confidential contract research for industrial companies, both troubleshooting and longer-term research programs, utilized various surface and colloid chemistry techniques e.g., dynamic light scattering, rheology, surface tension and interfacial tension measurements and UV spectroscopy.● Prepared final reports and quotes for external customers and directly liaised with clients regarding ongoing and new scientific programmes.● Prepared presentations using PowerPoint, compiled reports using Word and recorded and analyzed complex data in Microsoft Excel.● Trained staff and students to use scientific instruments such as the Kruss K12 Du Nouy Ring Tensiometer, UV spectrometer, high -speed centrifuge and the Silverson high-speed mixer.● Responsible for maintaining a wide range of instruments and equipment.● Responsible for the day-to-day running of the laboratory, including ordering and cataloguing chemicals and ensuring adequate stocks of reagents, consumables and office supplies.Designed, set up and maintained an Access database of the labs entire chemical stock
