From conception to execution, I am in involved in the overall process of book publicity and marketing campaigns for small presses and independent authors. My daily workload includes creating publicity and marketing plans for clients, which details a month-by-month outline of the campaign; the media outlets that will receive advanced reading copies; online outlets and blogs to be pitched; and where events will be booked. I write and edit press releases and other press kit materials such as author bios, create galley initial mailing lists, and pitch clients’ books via e-mail and phone.Content marketing is becoming an integral part of my daily workload, which includes writing blog posts and designing graphics for clients’ websites, and also distributing the content across social media channels. Many times clients do not have an interest in or understand how to use social media or important author tools such as Goodreads, which is where I step in to either teach them or administrate their accounts. My control over Claire McKinneyPR’s blog and Twitter resulted in an NBC producer finding the blog, and my boss was asked to appear on “The Today Show” as a self-publishing expert. As the primary contact at Claire McKinneyPR, I act as the office manager, which includes communicating with clients and our contracted freelancers on a daily basis. I update and blog on the business website, write book reviews, and design infographics.

On several occasions I performed the Live-on-Air news broadcast when I substituted as the Sunday morning news anchor.
