During this time, I studied energy metabolism in different segments of the kidney using both in vivo and in vitro approaches.

Master internship at the department of Renal Medicine.During this internship I focussed on the identification of the genetic cause for hypomagnesaemia and chronic kidney disease using the 100k genome project. This allowed me to gain more experience in bioinformatics, alongside learning more about genetics in detail.

Master internship at the Department of Physiology - Ion TransportDuring this wet lab based internship I studied the effect of magnesium on inflammation induced vascular calcification in vascular smooth muscle cells.

Bachelor internship at the Department of Pharmacology and ToxicologyDuring this internship I studied the effect of fluid shear stress on uric acid transporter gene expression in primary endothelial cells. I got the opportunity to give an oral presentation at the Figon Dutch Medicines Days 2018 and a poster presentation at the International Organ-on-a-chip Symposium 2018.

I was involved in evaluating and improving the education system of the bachelor Biomedical Sciences at Radboud University.
