Innovista Health, a subsidiary of Health Care Service Corporation, is a value-based enablement company that supports physicians and payers in risk-based contracts. I owned end-to-end content strategy and creation for all marketing initiatives and collateral: websites, landing pages, blogs, articles, client newsletters, case studies, email campaigns, press releases, social media, corporate/internal communications, and more. I also conducted SEO research and analysis to ensure high-ranking content, resulting in top placement for relevant keywords in the value-based cased care.

In Nov. 2006 after relocating, I started a writing/content marketing business that catered to clients in the health/healthcare space. My clients included physicians (cardiologists, neurologists, spine surgeons, chiropractors, and internists), scientists, publishers, supplement retailers, and consumer health websites. My content was published in print and various online sites (including healthcentral.com, psycom.net, healthydirections.com, heartmdinstitute.com).

I was hired in 2004 as an associate managing editor and was promoted in 2005 to managing editor. In this role, I managed an associate editor. In 2006, I transitioned to contractor status after relocating from DC to Florida.I wrote/edited/managed the production of hundreds of print newsletters from five different physician brands. These newsletters covered dozens of health topics, ranging from cardiology and women's health to diabetes and joint conditions. The print newsletters gave way to online content, which I took over creating and managing. I wrote weekly E-news, which consistently met or exceeded the company’s goals for open rates and conversions. I also wrote and published search engine optimized online health articles in the company’s content management system.During a massive website overhaul, I created and/or edited 300+ pages of optimized health content for the company’s site. I also oversaw the social media presence for four doctor brands.

In this role, I was responsible for creating multiple editorial and marketing deliverables for Optum and its parent company, United Health Group. This included internal and external newsletters, tip sheets, press releases, brochures, advertising and marketing materials, and books.My biggest accomplishment was a year-long, very tight deadline book project: I was part of a team that wrote and published a self-care medical book titled Taking Care: Self-Care for You and Your Family, which went out to 1 million subscribers. I researched and authored 7 chapters and contributed content to several shorter sections.I also conducted research for and wrote a monthly health newsletter called Taking Care, which reached an audience of nearly 1 million members nationally.
