As a Land and Resource Planner, I am responsible for leading and coordinating departmental and government-wide participation in a variety of regional, sub-regional, resource and community land use planning and zoning initiatives and providing assistance to First Nations, communities, Regional Planning Commissions and the Yukon Land Use Planning Council throughout the development of plans. In my work, I conduct policy and planning research and analyze a wide variety of complex land use planning and resource issues and prepare and present detailed land use plans. I propose options and recommended courses of action to senior management and prepare government approval documents on a regular basis to ensure that overall Yukon Government corporate interests and objectives are met, including obligations of the First Nation Final Agreements. Lastly, I am responsible for leading and coordinating public consultation efforts on regional, sub-regional and community land use planning and zoning initiatives, liaising with the public, industry, interest groups, and stakeholders throughout the planning process, and participating in the development and maintenance of a legislative, regulatory and policy framework which governs land use and orderly development in the Yukon.
