As an early stage researcher, I am investigating the role of digitalization in the modification of existing and creation of new categories of technology, products and industries. This research is part of a larger European Commission funded project - Complex and Open Innovation in the Networked Society, which is a collaboration between Leeds University Business School and Ericsson AB. The project seeks to investigate how firms are managing and responding to market disruptions driven by innovations in digital technologies.

Provided horizontal policy research, analysis and advice across the continuum of emergency/disaster management (i.e. prevention/mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery), including foresight analysis of emerging and future issues/trends. To advance policy development and related initiatives, designed and implemented stakeholder engagement strategies, facilitated discussions with and delivered presentations to stakeholders, and contributed to performance management strategies and evaluation. Other responsibilities include speech writing, preparation of presentations, briefing material and reports.

In addition, provided timely support to senior executives, such as preparation of presentations and briefing materials, and the provision of guidance and recommendations.

Responsible for the development of a project plan and consultation strategy, creation of a subject matter expert network to support the completion of a literature review (i.e., existing standards, best practices, training curriculum, trends), and recommendations for developing competency profiles. To advance the project, partnered with the Centre for Security Science and International Safety Research to plan and host a three day seminar and table top exercise with various stakeholder groups to elicit baseline information, solicit buy-in from stakeholders, and to develop a summary report to inform the next phase of the competency development project.

Provided research and analysis in the development of a national emergency preparedness strategy aligned with the National Emergency Preparedness Directorate's mandate. In addition, led the development of regional training model in consultation with Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives First Responder Training Program partners to maintain and sustain national response capabilities. Other responsibilities included providing guidance and recommendations to senior executives on program issues and stakeholder relations.

Responsible for the administration of the national CBRNE First Responder Training Program, specifically budget tracking and forecasting, liaising with contractors, coordination and recruitment of instructors, curriculum development and design, and technical support for online learners. In tandem with a senior program officer, planned and delivered two conferences: Lessons Learned and Best Practices Forum (2010) and Quadrilateral Conference on Chemical and Biological Counter-Terrorism (2009). Also responsible for providing research and analysis (e.g., environmental scans and operational assessments) to support organizational restructuring and renewal.

Supported the delivery of the CBRNE First Responders Training Program by tracking and forecasting expenditures, developing a Course Officer Reference Book outlining role and responsibilities as well as logistical requirements for the CBRNE Intermediate course, conducting a quantitative analysis participants’ learning trends to ascertain the effectiveness of course delivery, and provided logistical assistance when required (e.g., in the preparation of learning materials, assembling personal protective equipment kits and pre-deploying training equipment).

Researched and analyzed Canadian Direct Investment Abroad data (e.g., geographical dispersion, sector and volume of investments) to prepare briefing documents and communications materials (e.g., Q & As, scenario notes, web content, etc.).

Responsible for the tracking and forecasting of program expenditures relating to instructor salaries, equipment purchases and other required contracts. Completed quantitative analyses of CBRNE Intermediate and Advanced course surveys as well as conducted regular post-course reviews with support program staff to enhance program delivery and participant satisfaction.

Researched and wrote briefings documents and market reports on pertinent US/Canada trade issues and economic sectors (e.g., the Ambassador Bridge, changes in passport regulations, reparations from US tariffs on Canadian softwood lumber, Canadian Green Building and Information Communication Technology industries.), and provided guidance on export/trade inquiries from American companies looking to enter the Canadian market.
