Gearing Up is a non-profit organization working with Philadelphia women in recovery from abuse, addiction, and/or incarceration that provides clients the opportunity to ride a bike for exercise, transportation, and personal growth. Our clients are returning citizens, have histories of trauma and abuse as both children and adults, and have often turned to drugs and/or alcohol as a means of coping with these painful experiences. The Community Liaison facilitates and stewards Gearing Up's relationship with corporate sponsors and community allies, soliciting gifts and focusing on organizational Development.The Community Liaison plans and executes community fundraiser events, represents and speaks to the organizational mission at key events within the Philadelphia community, and is an ambassador for Gearing Up's mission. Additionally, the Community Liaison publicizes key events through social media channels and on the Gearing up website. In addition to administrative work, the Community Liaison acts as a Team Leader at a Community Partner Program site and provides case management, encouragement, and coaching to riders while managing program interns and program volunteers. The Child Prep process is a SWAN IL service which assists youth aging out of Foster Care to come to terms with the emotional issues surrounding coming into placement. Child Prep empowers youth to identify strengths, indelible individual qualities, dreams and hopes for the future, and identify permanent connections. The Child Prep worker assists youth in the creation of a “life book” or similar final project which memorializes special memories and addresses past traumas.

Provided life skills counseling and case management to youth in Foster Care between the ages of 16 and 21 in the Independent Living (IL) program. Housing and Life Skills Counselor to youth in the Housing 101 program.
