Appointed to design a robust change strategy to cut costs and grow revenue through acquisition of new contracts with full P&L accountability for the business. Responsible for strategic engagement and employing technology to streamline business practices and build positive foundations for growth, I’m currently driving business transformation that is reducing overheads and costs while delivering more revenue in the form of new contracts won, restructuring and business integration. I replaced manual processes, thus improving efficiency, reducing duplication and increasing transparency, and have expanded the business with exclusive partnerships, including training partnerships with CQUniversity and other organisations. I improved the team culture, creating an engaged and proactive team that is ready, willing and able to take on all challenges.

In recognition of my accomplishments in my previous role, I was asked to take on a formal project leadership role working with the global team to analyse operations and seek out opportunities to transfer relative systems processes and reporting to underground coal operations and vice-versa. Ultimately this period saw me change the face of underground coal mining in Australia, driving development of the first and, so far, only tablet device certified for use in underground coal mining in Australia, working with key technology partners over multiple years in iterative development to deliver a lightweight, resilient in harsh conditions and reliable in underground mine environments device. In 2021, I delivered the next generation ‘Gen 2’ device and obtained international approval for its use across Anglo-American’s Australian underground coal sites and adopted as best practice. I was honoured to win the BHP 2020 Minerals Council of Australia Women in Resources Technological and Innovation National Award for my work in developing, perfecting, implementing and gaining global acceptance for the underground tablet device. Previous to this, I was asked to implement Management Operating Systems (MOS) across four sites in South Africa and three sites in Australia involving building positive relationships with local, national and global teams to ensure all parties were working collaboratively.

Initially I oversaw the operational planning and scheduling at Moranbah North mine. This role grew and transformed into business improvement with me implementing the Management Operating Systems (MOS) across four sites in South Africa and three sites in Australia building positive relationships with local, national and global teams to ensure all parties were working collaboratively.Also during this time I started the journey of researching and developing the digital tablet including the bespoke software. The transformation of this role to my next was over a period of time whilst the tablet was in the R&D space.

While working as Operations Scheduler, I was seconded as part of the Longwall 100 Project aimed at aligning the company with industry best practice of achieving 100 hours of longwall cutting per week. Responding to local site needs and a broader opportunity to deliver a more user-friendly system, I scoped and led developers in delivering bespoke mining production software (Fewzion) later sold to a prominent IT company. As a result of this new technology, we improved transparency and reporting, grew productivity, reduced costs and most of all improved safety.

Participated in a number of redundancies due to mine closures during this time as well as start up of new operations within the local area and transitioning employees where possible.
