Chefs For Seniors is a personal chef service who's mission is to improve the health of seniors through healthy, home-cooked meals prepared on a regular basis. We help seniors save money by helping them age at home and we provide a familiar freindly face to connect and interact with.

After a 24-year career in Health Care and Nursing and over 12-years' experience as a Hospice RN, I have transitioned to owining a Chefs For Seniors franchise. Chefs For Seniors, with a tentative opening sometime in mid October to early November, 2021, is Kansas City's first personal-chef service geared to serving the senior population and others who can benefit us doing their grocery shopping, building meal plans to fit their specific dietary needs and desires, and cooking 10-12 make-ahead meals weekly or bi-weekly in their own kitchens. Chefs For Seniors' services will help our senior community age in place, keeping them in thier own homes longer by helping ensure they get nutritious meals that meets their personal dietary requirements.

After-Hours, In-Home, Hospice care.

Inpatient, Adult Telemetry, Palliative Care, and Med-Surg.

-Served as resource nurse, preceptor and Super User in an adult inpatient/acute hospice facility for 2 1/6 years. - Provided specialized end-of-life care to the hospice patient with acute health issues and symptoms too severe to be treated for in the home setting.-In addition to my clinical duties of assessing, planning and implementing cares and reassessing for the effectiveness of the cares I collaborated with patients, family members and the interdisciplinary team to develop the Plan of Care for each patient. I provided education to patients and their families, provided compassionate listening and emotional support to patients and families. Utilized EMR for proper documentation of admissions, assessments, POCs, interventions, follow ups and deaths. -I also served my unit as a Resource/"Charge" nurse assisting with staff assignments, processing proper reports and other paperwork related to each shift, mediated conflicts between any combination of patients, family members, other visitors and staff.

-Served working as PRN but actually full-time hours as an occupational nurse in an automobile assembly line setting. -My duties included conducting pre-employment physicals, running the health clinic, administering immunizations, providing first aid to 80-100 workers daily for aches, pains, minor trauma. Provided emergency first aid to severely injured workers, stabilizing them before outside emergency responders arrived. Provided semi-annual, annual, bi-annual job-related health screenings as mandated by OSHA. Assessed workers thought to be working under the influence of certain medications, illicit drugs and performing appropriate drug screening, sobriety tests to such workers and reporting them to the appropriate management teams. -Would enter all appropriate corresponding data, findings, results into the Ford/OSHA EMR database.

Provided medical care to the adult medical, post-surgical population by;-admitting, assessing, creating the POC, following physicians' orders, collaborating with interdisciplinary team members, administering oral, intravenous, IM, SQ etc. medications, monitoring telemetry status, supervised CNA staff, utilizing the EMR, and all other typical duties necessary in the med/surg, Tele setting

Served in the Memory Care Unit for 5 months until a position opened up in the Hospice House. My duties included, among others; Daily assessments, medication administration, blood sugar monitoring, wound care.I also served to interact, connect with patients, keeping them focused on tasks and engaged in conversations to help provide some focus and meaning in their lives as well as safety.To my residents I was nurse, "son", "husband", "lover", neighbor, "long lost friend from way back". There was NEVER a dull moment with this population!

Served for over 7 years as an After-Hours, Hospice Triage RN in the home setting.• Provided Specialized end-of-life care to the adult and pediatric populations, attending to chronic and acute medical needs, treating pain, nausea/vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, delirium, dyspnea, anxiety, terminal restlessness, urinary retention and other common symptoms, providing education, wound care, emotional, spiritual support, supporting family members.• Triaged incoming calls from patients, patients' family members and other caregivers. I would assess the situations by the callers' descriptions of the issues, use nursing judgment to either instruct the caller how to best handle the situation and/or make, or dispatch another nurse, chaplain or other members of the interdisciplinary team to make an after-hours visit to assist the patient and/or family.• Make time-of-death visits to assist the family/caregivers with post-mortem care of the body, destruction and disposal of controlled medications, calling and collaborating with the funeral home and providing guidance, presence and emotional support during such trying times.

For two full years I served, staff-sharing, in two units; Med-Surg Renal and Orthopedics. -Typical RN duties of admissions, assessments, medication administration in all routes, wound care, collaboration, developing POCs, education, etc. of the pediatric post-op renal transplant, peritoneal dialysis, post-op Ortho., trauma and the general med-surg populations.
