I built and manage the COVID-19 Communications Unit, a temporary work unit of 27 people created to protect the people of Oregon from COVID-19. I oversee COVID-19 earned media, paid media and owned media, including social media in English and Spanish, weekly radio broadcasts, a weekly podcast, daily media releases and a daily email newsletter with more than 200,000 organic subscribers. The team strives to create inclusive and equitable communication materials that are responsive to community needs. This work includes translating collateral in 12 languages, producing American Sign Language videos and creating audio files for spoken languages preferred by some members of Oregon’s Spanish and Somali communities.

Responsible for managing pathways, including an internet revamp, an intranet launch, and social media platforms. Responsible for overseeing six publications to internal and external audiences monthly. Responsible for internal communications for an agency of 4,000 employees.

I managed the district's social media platforms and website, overseeing the strategic use of written content, photography and videos, and supporting 81 schools with their social platforms and websites. I grew PPS’ Facebook page from 5,700 likes to 22,382 and Twitter followers from 630 to 6,625.In addition, I launched Twitter and Facebook Town Halls to give the PPS community direct access to PPS administrators. To engage students I added a PPS Snapchat account. I also revamped the district's LinkedIn account to help staff better recruit and market open positions for one of the largest employers in Portland. My project management duties supported communications and district initiatives. I wrote and executed strategic communications plans, coordinated accompanying videos, and managed affiliated website content, print materials and event planning. I am proud to have led communications for Supt. Carole Smith’s priority that all PPS students read at grade level by the end of the third grade. This work involved supporting an unprecedented partnership with seven Portland reading and family support nonprofits, the Portland Trail Blazers, the Portland Timbers, the Portland Thorns and the Portland Winterhawks.My digital content role involved the Communications'​ team participation in the district's emphasis to move content to mobile devices. This included serving as the Mobile First team lead, in collaboration with the Information Technology department, on the development of a new website, new texting, telephone and email service, and the development and launch of a new PPS app.
