Recently, I have devoted my time to teaching. I am currently Associate Professor of Chemistry, and Physical Sciences Department Chair at Southern Maine Community College. I have been teaching various lecture and laboratory sections of General Chemistry and Biochemistry. In addition, I have been committed to program and curriculum development for the physical sciences. This has included course redesign, development of new courses, and the establishment a physical sciences program at the college's new campus. I am hoping to establish a program for undergraduate research which will draw on my experience in technique and analytical system development and the college's long established Marine Science Program.

My research career has been centered on technique and analytical system development. Working with a wide range of technologies I have invented and developed novel systems of analysis. These have included methods for analysis of cellular membranes, detection of infectious diseases, rapid systems for the detection of small molecules such as hormones and antibiotics. These systems have consisted of both visually and instrument read devices, and were primarily designed for the rapid detection of the target molecule. My inventions now have applications in food safety, animal health, disease detection and cell biology.

Through various management positions, I managed research projects, lead teams of research and development scientists, and oversaw manufacturing operations and regulatory affairs. I served as director of technical operations in Europe and, finally, was general manager of a business unit.

Based in Paris, this position had responsibility for all aspects of Technical Support, Product Trouble Shooting and Instrument Service for a broad range of veterinary diagnostic and food safety products. Established and operated service centers in France, Germany and the United Kingdom. Acted as technical customer liaison throughout the European market region.
