I am a Registered Professional Engineer with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree (Auburn U.) and an MBA (U. of Alabama). Additionally I have done graduate work in Control Systems Engineering (U. of Houston).I have been a member of the NCEES (National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying) Control Systems Engineering PE exam specification committee since 2010.I have worked in the steel industry, the pulp & paper industry and the electric utility industry in various maintenance and engineering capacities including mill level, engineering company and corporate engineering positions. I have functioned as a design engineer, an SME engineer, a project engineer and a project manager. On very large corporate capital projects I managed the I&C portion and on medium size projects I managed the E & I portion. On primarily E & I projects I have managed the entire project.At Georgia-Pacific I chaired the BMS Standard Committee.As a G-P corporate staff engineer I have led complete teams of all disciplines (engineering company, corporate staff, operating facility and equipment suppliers) doing checkout and startup of major facilities.My experience includes instrumentation (pressure, temperature, level and flow measurement and analyzers), control valve sizing, control actuators (electric, pneumatic and hydraulic) and control systems (single loop pneumatic & electronic, PLCs and DCSs). I have experience in power electronics (UPSs, DC VSDs and AC VFDs, and including Ward Leonard systems) and electrical controls (low and medium voltage switchgear, transformers and control panels).Over the years I have had several mentors. In recent years I have enjoyed mentoring young engineers.I am available for either direct or contract work.
