Quite simply, whether it is a demand ranging from a golf tournament sign/event to full trade show/exhibit design, fleet graphics to a cohesive corporate re-branding or making it "look like the picture", graphic design is always a matter of problem solving at it core! You need to determine the problem at hand, look for the patterns, and bear in mind budgetary concerns to effectively formulate a plan and implement it in the most efficient and expedient manner possible. And before you can bend a rule, you need to know what the rules are.In my varied career path within the graphic arts field; whether it has been in the sign industry, the transit bus/fleet graphic industry or the aviation/Maintenance Repair & Overhaul {MRO} industries; At one time or another I have addressed everything from: concept to design in regards to considerations involving material management as is relevant to production/fabrication & installation and coordination with inter-departmental cells or various third party contractors. As such, requires a firm grasp on the finer points of each discipline applicable to overall project goals and the ability to effectively communicate with the contractors & clients. This can range from promotional materials, exhibit design, signage (various: from cut vinyl graphics to neon), convenience store re-branding, aircraft liveries/placards, fleet graphics, deadlines, travel considerations etc.A certain focus and attention to details is required, and knowing when and where to trust instinct!Since 2009 I have been involved with industries with a graphic influence is present, an economy of work space & workflow continually prove to be a paramount concern.A delicate balance to be sure!
