Larry Gilbert is a partner and wealth advisor with William Blair’s Private Wealth Management group. He joined William Blair from the Private Banking North America Business of Credit Suisse Securities. He previously served at HighTower Advisors as one of the firm’s earliest partners and for 10 years at Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management. Before his years in private wealth, Larry worked for eight years as a professional market maker on the Chicago Board Options Exchange. Larry received his M.B.A. from the Booth School at the University of Chicago and a B.A. in economics from Pennsylvania State University.Currently, Larry serves on and is the immediate past chair of the board of directors for Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, serves on the University of Chicago Medical Center Board of Trustees, and is a member of the University Advisory Board for Boston University. In the past, he has also served as a director on the Next Generation Board of the United States Holocaust Museum, as a director of the Starlight Children’s Foundation, once serving as its chairman, and as a member of the Golden Angels Network at Marquette University while also serving as an advisor to Marquette’s Kohler Business Center. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, skiing, and is an active competitor; having completed several marathons, Ironman triathlons, and numerous other endurance events.
