A former VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) volunteer, Larry has spent his entire career working on behalf of non-profit organizations. He is an internationally known development and management consultant, trainer and coach, having taught at the Graduate Program of Fund Raising Management, the University of San Diego, and the Institute for Organizational Development at Taylor University. He has lectured extensively at conferences and seminars throughout North America and in Europe. In 1978 he served as Campaign Coordinator and counsel to the billion dollar “Here's Life” Campaign of Campus Crusade for Christ, at that time the largest private fundraising effort in history. In two national independent studies of nonprofit organizations and consulting firms by Campbell-Rinker, McConkey • Johnston International was recognized as the “Best General Fundraising Counsel in the Christian Sector.” Dr. Johnston was presented “The Best of the Best” Faculty Award by the Christian Stewardship Association, recognizing outstanding quality and dedication in the service of equipping Christian leaders from hundreds of Christian organizations. He has consulted internationally with leading Christian organizations in Canada, Europe, Latin America and Asia. He developed Donor Value Mapping®, a system designed to enhance donor retention. He works extensively in strategic planning and management systems and in leading and managing organizational change. His consulting and coaching entails personal, team, and organization development in the pursuit of high performance and missional impact.
