Database AdministratorIfco Systems May 2012 - Sep 2012Pullach, Munich, DeI performed 100% database administration under contract to IFCO Systems in a SQL Server 2012 environment. This was very complex environment where production CRM and MS Dynamics (Solomon) databases were replicated to staging and reporting servers. In this capacity, I performed extensive trouble-shooting and analysis of scheduled jobs and packages using SQL Server Profiler and dynamic management views (DMVs) and performed modifications to archived code residing in Team Foundation Server using Visual Studio 2010. I upgraded Idera SQL Diagnostic Manager to version 7.1, installed new named instances of SQL Server 2008 Enterprise and established a development environment in support of IFCO’s Continuous Development process. I developed and/or modified several reports utilizing MS SSRS, and performed in-depth trouble-shooting of OLAP processes running under MS SSAS. I extensively used Idera’s SQL Safe backup product for both backups and restores. I tuned many processes by writing more efficient T-SQL code, or by adding indexes where they were missing. I fully documented database server configurations, settings, and drive mapping and utilization. -
Sr. Programmer AnalystTechradium Inc Feb 2010 - Apr 2012While at TechRadium, I functioned as the sole database administrator for over 100 databases in this high availability environment. I performed all database and SQL Server analysis and tuning operations. I instituted the use of stored procedures called from compiled C++ and C# .NET application and showed developers how to utilize them. I established database mirroring for SQL Server to a remote site location and converted/upgraded the database from SQL 2000 to SQL 2008. I authored C# .NET programs to perform massive data imports using Bulk Copy Program operations into the production and development systems in hours instead of days. I have worked closely with development teams to design and build an entire database structure and corresponding stored procedures and views for a new software product line. TechRadium has two core lines of software, one an emergency mass notification system (typically used by school districts, fire departments, security-related industries) and the other is an Emergency Operations Center software package used by FEMA, DHS, EMS, and State Emergency Operations centers. I utilized Visual Studio 2005, 2008 and 2010 as my primary development platform and working on SQL Server 2000, SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2008 Enterprise database servers.

Sr. Programmer AnalystFiesta Mart Inc Sep 2007 - Feb 2010Converted numerous VB-Script applications and processes to C# .NET compiled programs for this retail grocery store company. In this capacity, I developed a multi-threaded asynchronous programs which utilized FTP protocol to gather all 50 store’s sales transaction log-files, bulk transfer them into SQL Server databases, and to multiple Oracle Servers. The VBScript process was failing to complete in 3 hours, the re-written process completes in an average time of 8 minutes. Because it utilizes stored procedures on the database side, a high level of performance and security is achieved. The .NET application utilizes the following technologies: Asynchronous threading, FTP, SQL Client, Oracle Client, SMTP (provides completion/status notification.) I have also produced Intranet-based web displays over the summarized tables using ASP.net in C# as well as various 3rd party tools and components from Developer Express.
