After 41 years representing of clients primarily as an advocate in litigation disputes with a complementary practice as a neutral in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), I have restricted my practice to Alternative Dispute Resolution. I have also served as a judicially selected adjunct settlement judge for both the United States District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma and the Tulsa County District Court. As a mediator, I view my role as not only facilitating communication between the parties in a privileged atmosphere, but also reducing the obstacles to communication and maximizing the exploration of alternatives to enable the parties to reach a voluntary and agreeable resolution of their dispute. I also believe my role includes encouraging consideration of potential weaknesses and strengths of each party’s position and offering a mediator’s assessment when it will promote or assist the parties in evaluating the issues, risks and potential outcomes. As an arbitrator, my goal is to ensure that each party has the opportunity to effectively present their case while managing the process in a manner that is consistent with the party-selected dispute resolution method of arbitration by having an expedited time frame and expense sensitive process.
