At McCann Health I provided creative direction and staff management on product launches, new business, statins, oncology, diabetes, rare disease, contraception, osteoporosis, and rheumatoid arthritis products to name a few. It was a pleasure to hire and mentor the young talent there as well.I also contributed to the global launch campaigns of Kyleena, Soliris, Vertex and Reclast/Aclast for which I received IPG’s Organic Growth Award for increasing business revenue. My other awards included MM&M, RX Club, PharmaChoice, and appearing in a Graphis Advertising Annual.To top it off, I was the drummer for the agency band, The SideFX, which was a lot more fun than doing my time sheets…

While working as a hired gun at OgilvyOne, I was fortunate to have the campaign concept my partner and I conceived for the Delta Skymiles Credit Card, “Your next vacation is closer than you think” chosen and executed. Shot in New York City and the British Virgin Islands, it was a freelancer’s dream come true.The campaign achieved a multi-million application goal in both consumer and business cards, which convinced the client to increase their advertising budget and meant that I wouldn’t be taking a vacation anytime soon…

In 1999 I decided to try my hand at starting my own ad agency, Pink Elephant Inc.Located at 5 East 16th street, we were able to pitch, win and retain clients such asAmerican Express, A&R Hockey Accessories, Babygear.com, Fuji Document Division,Simon and Schuster Interactive, Vitamin Water and Graphic Systems Group.Although it wasn’t as successful as I had hoped, it was a learning experience that I will never forget. It taught me how to keep cool under pressure, manage budgets, understand client’s goals and how to get the most out of the people working for you. Oh, and to make sure you pay the rent on time…

The two biggest accounts at Dentsu that I was the creative lead on were Canon and Butler Gum.I created and executed the TV and print campaign “New World” for the launch of the Optura digital camcorder. It was an SLR camera and camcorder combined, one of the first of its kind. Shot in Lake Powell, special effects in Toronto, and edited in New York, it was a huge undertaking where quick decision making, staying on budget, and meeting deadlines was a must, and I did it all without making enemies. It was the start of the digital age, and I was right there in the thick of it.The first TV commercial I ever created that combined the use of CGI and live action, was for Butler Gum. This whimsical TV commercial was a technical achievement for a new toothbrush design that left the client grinning from ear to ear.

When I started at Griffin Bacal Inc. they were known in the ad world as theagency that only handled toy accounts, such as Milton Bradley and Hasbro.After they won the Sharp Electronics account, I was hired to be the creative lead on their copier division and launch the new Sharp Viewcam camcorder, Wizard and Zaurus Personal Digital Assistant.I then pitched and won Sega Channel, Fitness Magazine, and Associated Air Freight. All of these new business wins helped Griffin Bacal Inc. become a force to be reckoned with on Madison avenue.But I did play in the toy business as well. I conceived and co-wrote the TV commercial Back Room for Sharp Shooters, a game by Milton Bradley.Winning a Telly, Ace and Effie award made my whole experience there a lot of fun and games…
