In my 24 year career, I have gained a wide range of knowledge and in depth experience in the operational and mechanical areas of turnarounds and projects within the oil and gas (upstream, midstream & downstream), chemical, heavy industrial, and mining industries. Most of my career has been spent either working or estimating, planning and managing turnarounds and / or major capital projects, onshore and offshore. HEP - Rocky Mountain Region. I was located at the Holly Frontier Refinery in Cheyenne, WY. My responsibilities included, but were not limited to; tanks, terminals, facilities and pipelines throughout the Rockies. I maintained 58 tanks in Cheyenne at the Holly Frontier Refinery, as well as 78 other tanks at terminals in Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Washington, Nebraska and Nevada. I was tasked to help develop and maintain a risk based database for HEP assets in my area as well as ensure that all assets meet API 653, and/or DOT-DEQ compliance where applicable. I was the Project Manager, Estimator and overall Cost Controller for new construction and/or repair of all tanks in this region. I also managed and / or performed all routine inspections of HEP assets in these areas.

Worked with numerous clients across the Rocky Mountain and Mid-Continent Regions for TIMEC / Transfield Services Group. Performed multiple roles in project management, project consultation, project estimating, and overall turnaround management services at multiple sites for clients in the oil and gas, chemical, heavy industrial and mining industries. Responsible for management of full mechanical crews from 12 people up to over 400 personnel during turnarounds and / or projects. Responsible for daily routine safety meetings for all personnel and sub contractors working on our projects. Also managed and led routine site tool box meetings as well as company and client safety meetings and / or stand downs when required.

Alliance Manager for TIMEC Companies with Dyno Nobel in Cheyenne, WY for 4 Chemical Plants throughout the U.S. – October 2009 to July 2011 Selected by Dyno Nobel turnaround/capital projects manager to be Alliance Manager. Tasked to assist in providing detailed turnaround work scopes for each of the Dyno sites. Develop detailed planning and scheduling for future turnaround work at each site. Responsible for developing and maintaining a good contractor client working relationship with management at each facility across the United States, as well as with the Dyno Nobel owner company management out of Australia, Incitec Pivot, Ltd. Responsible for negotiating alliance contract T&C’s, contract specifics, and developing KPI standards to be met throughout each project through an “at risk” profit based agreement. Develop and provide presentations to client management concerning company provided services as well as pre and post turnaround competencies, with an emphasis on safety. Responsible for identifying and setting up multiple third party companies as TIMEC company sub-contractors, to be used during projects at each client site. Assist Dyno Nobel in developing and implementing industry best practices for each site, as well as identifying and implementing detailed policies and procedures concerning safety.

Tasked to create a turnaround planning team at the McKee Refinery in 2003. Managed and maintained a planning group of 20 to 30 contract personnel during this phase of my career. Planned and performed multiple turnarounds at this facility with projects ranging from a few hundred thousand dollars to ~ $50 million.

Worked in the Process Engineering department at the McKee Refinery providing material coordination for the refinery. Maintained and managed all plant exchanger and pump files, as well as provided support to process engineers with catalyst change outs, tower inspections, exchanger replacements and metallurgical upgrades, tray revamps and replacements; DOE regulatory reporting, and purchase of specialty materials/items for small to large outages throughout the plant. Also performed tower and exchanger inspections and recommendations for repair during all t/a outages.Selected during this time as one of two McKee Plant SAP Super Users, responsible for providing training and support in the SAP Plant Maintenance system for the entire plant of approximately 400 personnel. I remained responsible for all of my pre-existing job duties as the Process Engineering Coordinator / Planner during this phase.

Started my career in the oil and gas industry working for Diamond Shamrock McKee refinery (later to become Ultramar Diamond Shamrock, then purchased by Valero Energy) near Sunray, TX. I started in maintenance and construction working as a Yardman in construction. I transitioned into Operations working in several of the plant units including; Alkylation, FCCU, CCR, Hydrotreaters, Sulfur, Crude, HCU, as well as other units throughout the plant. During my time in both maintenance and operations I continued to support all Turnaround and Major Project activities as a mechanical helper. This allowed me to thoroughly learn all aspects of piping, equipment and processes from the inside / out. It gave me first hand in depth experience of work durations and the implementation of the work required to perform all aspects of project and turnaround activities, as well as the overall knowledge and understanding of estimating manhours for the many different types of activities within a project, specific to each individual processing unit.I transitioned into the plant's warehouse in March of 2000. At the time we had 8 warehouses on site, and maintained a $16 MM parts inventory for the plant. I was responsible for all areas of warehousing, stocking, material issuing and management of inventory as well as all HAZMAT and DOT regulated shipping. I gained a vast knowledge base with first hand experience in most all refinery materials & equipment, PMI testing, as well as the uses and metallurgical differences of an array of materials utilized within the refinery.
