Responsible for creating and solicitation of users for the commercial diving services and vessel services for the Gulf of Mexico.Task: Creating an offshore client base when the company expanded from inland to offshore diving services in the Gulf of Mexico.Results: Recruited various oil & gas companies, construction & engineering firms, universities & research companies, environmental agencies, the Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Coast Guard. Marketed services i.e., diving, vessel services, salvage and construction, underwater inspection and project management. Also marketed vessels for lease or manned with Specialty marine crews to assist clients with various marine projects and exposed Specialty to US Environmental which resulted in oil spill response resulting in a significant revenue impact to Specialty. During this time I used my prior experience with fabrication and manufacturing to resurrect a company vessel scheduled to be scrapped; rebuilt stringers and interior to better fit the dive crews for service in the local shelf waterways, thereby producing tens of thousands of dollars in unexpected revenue.

Owner/Operator – Rivet Specialties, fabrication of compressor frames for the local diving industry, designed and built floatation devices for the local utility companies. Task: Create a local business to service independent welding projects in and around the West bank of La, using a transportable welding machine, along with gas, mig, tig and stick welding. Results: Designed and developed compressor frames for local diving and diving equipment companies, various weld repairs and construction for various types of businesses, such as the Railroad, local utility companies, businesses mostly acquired by word of mouth and the local yellow pages. My ever increasing desire and love of working with engines proved just as profitable and the business then evolved into repair and maintenance of fishing vessels and manufacturing of pleasure boats.

Harvey, La

Shop/Fabrication/Maintenance/Tender/Diver/Superviser/Operation/Sales: In the early years worked on weekends and after school, with a local diving company in the shop learning, various task such as fabrication, engine maintenance and repair. Later moved into the field as a tender, learning to be a diver, and working underwater on various types of construction projects. Having done the various task, worked my way back into the office doing operations, and sales. Task: Work as directed with management in a continuing education mode, learning various parts of the oil and gas industry, through the diving and construction business. Meeting various clients at various levels, afforded me the opportunity to move into a sales and marketing position within EPIC, which proved to be an asset based on the prior 12 years of hands on experience. Results: Beginning in the late 80’s the oil and gas industry as a whole was having some of its worst years on record, the 90’s were proving to be somewhat better, a slight tick upward, I then took this opportunity to branch out on my own and create Rivet Specialties. A welding fabrication company which could provide certain services to Epic Divers, other diving companies and businesses within the local area.
