From the moment I started door-knocking for campaigns, I heard countless stories about superfluous and inefficient government posing burdens too great for ordinary people to bear. As my academic journey and campaign work co-evolved, I noticed that markets were often plagued with the same inefficiencies, unsurprisingly intertangled with the workings (or lack thereof) of government. By the time I entered college, I knew this was the space in which I could best align my strengths and passions. For the summer and fall of 2024, I stepped away from the campaign trail to research workforce access and development at the Illinois Policy Institute, primarily focusing on occupational licensing and identifying promising legislative channels for licensing reform. This culminated in the publication of "Unlocking Opportunity: How Occupational Licensing Reform Would Promote Equitable Empowerment in Illinois," a peer-reviewed policy research report I co-authored with Head of Policy Josh Bandoch. As I finish my undergraduate studies in philosophy and political economy at Georgetown, I will continue to embrace opportunities to empower my fellow Americans through the liberty movement.
