I am a partner in Barnes & Thornburg LLP’s Indianapolis, Indiana office. I also am a co-chair of the firm's national White Collar Crime Defense Practice Group.My practice is focused on white collar crime defense and complex litigation. I represent corporations and executives subject to federal and state criminal and civil investigation proceedings. I also provide counsel on the development and implementation of corporate compliance programs, including foreign corrupt practices (FCPA).I joined Barnes & Thornburg in 1998 after 18 years as a federal prosecutor and three years as a state prosecutor. I concluded my Department of Justice service on the prosecution team responsible for the convictions of the Oklahoma City bombing defendants. I tried both cases and delivered the prosecution's closing argument in U.S. v. Timothy McVeigh. As a federal prosecutor, I also investigated and tried a wide array of white collar offenses including securities fraud, healthcare fraud, money laundering, bank fraud, antitrust, and environmental crimes.Two years ago a jury returned full acquittals in a federal bribery trial in which I served as lead counsel for the defendant. Both the Governor of Kentucky and the Senate President testified during the trial. More recently, in November 2012 a jury returned full acquittals in a federal environmental crimes trial in which I served as lead defense counsel for a multi-national water and wastewater treatment company.
