Construction Inspector
CurrentInspect and act as Project Manager/Coordinator for several Capital Improvement Projects (CIPs) including Bridge Maintenance, Street Paving/Resurfacing, LARP/LMIG and other Special Projects. Attends Site Plan Review (SPR) meetings and preconstruction meetings; conducts interim inspections of jobsites. Conducts final inspections and utility warrant inspections for new subdivisions and developments.Review and approve or deny Right of Way, new driveway construction and utility cuts. (cable, conduit, fiber optics, gas, sewer, storm and water line installations) and Right of Way traffic permits. Investigate and resolve resident & business complaints and enter data into the SAV 311 customer service system. Tasked with finding the Department, Contractor, Utility or Railroad company that is responsible for correcting the issue and ensuring repairs are made correctly, Inspect all the railroad grade crossings and enter information into a database. Coordinate with the Railroad companies that own the railroad grade crossings in the City to bring the crossing into compliance by repairing the asphalt and concrete defects, active warning devices, cross bucks, gates, advance warning signs and stripping with City codes and the Manual Uniform of Traffic Devices (MUTCD). Utilize GDOTs biannual bridge inspection report to identify and repair bridges that in need of repair. Find bridge Consultants and Contractors by putting the project out to bid. Monitor the repair and approve or deny work. Conduct physical bridge inspection every quarter and after heavy rain events.Review Right of Way traffic & driveway permits, approve or deny with conditions. Enter information in the Street Maintenance Rating Database when there a change in the street, sidewalk curb and gutter .
