Designed and manufactured custom Printed circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs) for a local ground floor startup for use in mobile phone charging stations. Invested my own time and capital to design and manufacture the PCBAs, relying on profit margins to cover the R&D investment. The company could not afford engineering services at the time.Managed the entire supply chain in-house to save on component pricing. Worked with Avnet to negotiate competitive pricing for key components, leveraging relationships within the company. Where necessary, sourced other components from a variety of distributors such as Digi-Key and Mouser. Components were drop-shipped to a local contract manufacturer for assembly. We also sourced key accessories such as AC power adapters directly from manufacturers in China.Performed the role of CFO by developing detailed cash flow forecasting for my company (manufacturing is capital intensive, and I'm no Rockefeller). Created an inventory forecast tool using Google Sheets that was shared with the customer so we could ensure orders were placed early enough to meet my suppliers' lead times.Produced this product for 7 years over several design iterations to change form factor or cost reduce production. Designed and built a test fixture to improve yield. By 2018 we were producing 7k pieces per year. Eventually, the product was replaced with mass produced (read: much cheaper) alternatives as the market matured.

Project involved setting up EKS with AWS Fargate using Terraform and prototyping CI using GitHub Actions. GitHub enabling key Helm add-ons such Kubernetes Metrics Server, Prometheus, etc. Leveraged the AWS EKS Blueprints project to accelerate project success. Bootstrapped and demonstrated Argo CD in Kubernetes.

This consisted of Bitbucket Server, Nexus 2, Jenkins, and SonarQube. Management included the use of Ansible and AWS Cloudformation + APIs. Single handedly replaced an 8 person team to operated and stabilize the platform. This work was performed on behalf of Go2Group. After the first 6 months or so, some engineers at Southwest gave me the nickname "Go To Larry". Responsibilities ranged from managing tool upgrades across a large inventory, to supporting individual teams using Jenkins. Eventually we recommended GitLab Enterprise on AWS, which the management decided to purchase and deploy.Over the course of this client engagement, my team grew to 8 people from Go2Group.When COVID lockdowns resulted in a sharp decline in revenue for the airline industry, my contract was terminated along with around 90% of the Technology contractors in the organization. Three of my team members stayed on, which made me happy.
