I am looking for new challenges and opportunities next fall, September / October 2023. After 29+ years serving the Army and working with a wide range of other federal and state agencies and non-government organizations, I am looking to use those skills toward a new and exciting life path. Among many duty stations across the globe, I have enjoyed many assignments working in emergency management, policing and emergency services, interagency coordination, and humanitarian assistance. Currently, I serve as the senior DOD representative to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Region 3 based in Philadelphia. I work regularly on emergency / consequence management matters with other federal agencies including DHS, FEMA, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), Health and Human Services, and Department of State, as well senior state officials from five states and Washington D.C. including directors of emergency management, homeland security, and National Guard. Recently, my team and I had a leading and major role in Operations Allies Refuge and Allies Welcome. We directly supported the State Department and Department of Homeland Security with the reception, stabilization and care for nearly 80,000 Afghan citizens being resettled in the US following the fall of Afghanistan to Taliban rule in August 2021. Includer: I seek as much diverse input as possible, particularly when it is divergent from evolving consensus and could offer unique opportunities or solutions. Maximizer: Using the collective strengths of the team, I find way to take something good and make it excellent by paying attention to detail and challenging status-quo standards. Analytical: More and better input generally creates better output. The best decisions are well informed decisions that have traversed the gauntlet of analysis and comparison. Communication: Whether written, verbal or interpretative dance (well, maybe not as much for the latter) good communication creates shared understanding and shared vision.I love working with my hands and am an avid DIYer. I do all my own car maintenance, anything short of rebuilding an engine or transmission. I enjoy carpentry and have built some nice furniture pieces, cutting boards and a butcherblock with exotic hardwoods. I also enjoy landscaping and various home improvement projects and I am not afraid to learn new skills and take on new challenges.
