I am a serial entrepreneur with a career spanning over 40 years, built on the foundation of hard work, resilience, and a passion for creating successful businesses. My journey began in Leeds, England, where I started in retail, working my way up from sales associate to management. From there, I ventured into the recruitment industry, co-founding LinkUp Recruitment Services in 1980. Over the years, I expanded the business to 25 offices before selling the recruitment division for $10 million, retaining the language translation side, which ultimately became thebigword Group—now one of the world's largest language service providers.In 2021, I sold the majority of my shares in thebigword, valued at $100 million, and now focus on mentoring and advising entrepreneurs. I serve on several startup boards and work closely with Cornell Tech, where I mentor founders, helping them grow their businesses by sharing insights into marketing, sales, and fundraising. This collaboration led to the launch of my podcast, Gold with Gould, where I with the help of my guest provide startup founders with sound business advice.

Spending nearly four decades in the same business sounds boring but in reality, the language services market has changed out of all recognition in that time. Technology has been at the forefront of our development and had has led us to grow organically faster than any other company in the top 100 language businesses in the world. As CEO I headed up a team of incredibly talented people focusing on investment – in technology and individuals.
