 Lead industry advocacy efforts to secure U.S. Inflation Reduction Act tax credits for clean fuel and clean hydrogen production. Includes organization of internal and external industry stakeholders and supervision of external advocacy firms and consultants. Lead multi-faceted advocacy campaign to ensure methanol’s eligibility for IRA Section 45Z Clean Fuel Production Tax Credit. Represent the Institute in public fora; chairing conferences, leading panel discussions and negotiating with external partners and stakeholders Effectively manage internal staff and external consultants and contractors to produce effective stakeholder mapping, and produce content including policy papers, analyses, reports and statistics to enhance awareness and the reputation of the global methanol industry among policy makers and influencers. Set strategic agenda, drive policy and manage global strategy and resources to expand methanol’s market penetration as a clean energy resource. Develop and execute successful strategies to advance the Methanol Institute’s policy and regulatory activities through direct advocacy to Congress and federal agencies including the Departments of Energy, Transportation, Commerce, State, Congress, state agencies such as the California Air Resources Board (CARB), and foreign entities including the European Commission and national governments in Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa.

 Develop and maintain relationships with key individuals, agencies and organizations on federal, state and international levels. Represent the Methanol Institute in Industry Associations including the American Chemistry Council (ACC), Americans for Free Trade Coalition, and Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Energy Association (FCHEA). Lead and actively engage members in the Methanol Institute’s Product Stewardship Committee and form partnerships to ensure the safe handling and positive press coverage of methanol globally. Analyze, comment on, and respond effectively to proposed policies, rules, and regulations that affect the global methanol industry. Developed and organized effective advocacy effort bringing together like-minded stakeholders to prevent congressional adoption of provisions on natural gas odorization which would have placed a significant cost burdenon the methanol industry. Produce yearly, quarterly and weekly publications highlighting activities of the Methanol Institute and opportunities for the methanol industry. Direct the Methanol Institute’s new media campaigns and coordinate with member companies to amplify messaging across media platforms.

Develop policy advocacy strategies targeting commercial barriers, cultivate and maintain relationships with public and private sector policy makers and participate in business development activities.Focus in areas of: Life Science, Intellectual Property, Bilateral Trade, Public Health, Media, and Legal Services

Coordinate U.S. Government resources and authority in support of U.S. business interested in competing against foreign firms for specific international contracts.Provide situational analysis for the Southeast Asia and Africa Regions, and strategic advice in marshalling government resources.Plan and execute coordination among U.S. Business, Department of Commerce senior officals, Department of State, Embassies, International Financing Institutions and other agencies.Produce and edit speeches for signing ceremonies and submission to foreign governments.
