As an entrepreneur with three decades of experience in the energy sector, I’m excited about introducing cutting-edge projects that can supply clean energy 24/7. In particular, I’ve developed plans for two initiatives: >> A clean energy project in Indiana that would supply 20 MW of electricity to the grid by harnessing the power of coal bed methane (CBM), which the State of Indiana has identified as a renewable energy source--positioning it for favorable regulatory and electricity price determination. >> A clean energy project that will power a commercial greenhouse with an integrated system using CBM gas-fired power generation facilities, while also capturing the waste heat and C02 for the greenhouse’s use. This system, which uses the concept of Combined Heat and Electricity (also known as cogeneration), will allow the greenhouse to dramatically reduce its energy costs. These projects, once funded and built, will help to reduce carbon emissions while producing ROI for investors. Our plans didn’t materialize overnight—they are the result of our extensive experience, exhaustive research, and collaborative work with engineering and geology experts at The Ohio State University and the University of Indiana. Quadgeneration encompasses the features of a trigeneration system, with combined electricity, heat and cooling but in addition includes the recovery of carbon dioxide from the exhaust gas. Here the exhaust gas is scrubbed using the Codinox system and is pumped into the greenhouses. This carbon dioxide is used by the plants in photosynthesis and physically becomes part of the plant, hence removing it from the atmosphere and reducing carbon emissions. Alternatively carbon dioxide can be scrubbed and cleaned then used as a substance for drinks and food manufacture, such as carbonation in the soft drinks industry, or other industrial processes. Quadgeneration not only provides the benefits of high efficiency generation, utilising over 90% of the energy contained within the gas, it also utilises carbon dioxide, a by-product of the combustion process to give the highest levels of environment performance and offers the potential for zero carbon emissions.
