Currently working on a distributed Scrum team using two week iterations and the Lean Kanban Kit. We are replacing an Openfire-based application with Jetty, Comet, GWT, and Swing running against a JPA/Hibernate backend running on Amazon's EC2 and the RDS MySql service. Led the design and implementation of a Swing-based Customer Service billing application. This application generates annual bills and account history for all parcel owners in the City of Denver, generating over $30M of revenue annually. Server side uses RMI as middleware and Oracle 10G.Successfully introduced Scrum into our IT department for our Java development team. Regularly serve as Scrum Master.Co-designed and co-developed a public facing web application for taking Storm Invoice payments. Interfaces with PaymentTech credit card processing. To date this system has had over 57,000 payments and generated over $5.1 million since its deployment in Nov 2005. Uses Tapestry and Tomcat.Developed an in-house system using the Google Web Toolkit for managing city inspections.

At Synxis, I was the team lead for server side development. I lead three team members. Synxis was an SAAS Internet startup in the hotel industry, providing hotels with visibility to the airline booking systems (i.e., GDS -- global distribution systems), and enabling hotel agents to book reservations.My duties included enhancing the domain model and the EJB service layer running in JBoss. The database that we used was the Gemstone object-oriented database. One major accomplishment was the design and implementation of a front-end cache of the domain model to reduce hotel query response time from 3-4 seconds during peak time to less than 100 ms. This was in response to an unexpected upturn in new business and required quick action. Another accomplishment was the design and implementation of a strategy to internationalize the domain data (i.e., non-static data).
