Managed 70+ Asplundh Tree Expert Co. tree trimming crews in Broward County, FL. Developed functional relationships with 33 municipalities in Broward. Oversaw the necessity for vegetation management, and the quality of trimming, removals, and tree replacements throughout the County. Personally and actively involved in resolving the customer complaint process. Developed annual Deployment Plan to manage, by trimming, physical and chemical removal, use of tree growth regulators, and other means, about 700 miles of power lines per year. Worked closely with various people and groups in FPL, including Reliability Coordinators, Substation and Area Managers, Major Account Coordinators, External Affairs officials, FPL Energy representatives, FPL Transmission representatives. Worked closely with municipalities to gain input, feedback and support for deployment plan, management standards and the removals of trees in critical conflict with power lines.

Spent twenty-six plus years in the United States Army, including 3 Active Duty Army Tours, Hawai'i Army National Guard (HARNG), Florida Army National Guard (FLARNG), and the United States Army Reserve (USAR). Active Army 1967-69, toured South Korea for 14-1/2 months. Active Duty 3-1/2 years as a HARNG Recruiter, 1983-86. Active Duty in FLARNG for 16 weeks during/after Hurricane Andrew, and several other humanitarian missions throughout the state of Florida. Activated, mobilized, deployed and led a USAR Postal Platoon to Al Asad, Iraq from February 2003-May 2004. Conducted mail operations for 80+ Units in country, serving over 5,000 soldiers and civilians with daily mail operations. Handled over 1.5 million letters, parcels, and packages and performed over $1,000,000 worth of outgoing postal services, with only seventeen soldiers!

Co-founder and Vice President of the 501(c)(3) Nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and protecting green space in South Florida after Hurricane Andrew, through education, property development and management, and grant funding.

Worked with private citizens, municipalities, utilities as a Horticultural Consultant in a two-person company in Broward County, FL. Provided tree form, health, soundness evaluations and appraisals, landscape evaluations, recommendations, and coordination. After Hurricane Andrew, sought and secured FEMA 100% reimbursable computer data-based Tree Inventory Grants for 6 Municipalities in Broward and Dade County in 1994-95. This involved selecting and utilizing a third-party computer model, program and hardware, and hand-held computers to physically inventory over 20,000 trees in each grant, locate and number them on maps to match the inventory data. Each site location had 20+ parameters, including Genus/Species, height, spread, health, utility conflicts above or below ground, next recommended procedure, etc. The data was downloaded to the municipality, and became a functional City tree inventory.

Started and managed a tree-trimming division for commercial landscape maintenance firm in Broward County, FL. Hired personnel, purchased vehicles, equipment and tools, sold and secured work, managed three tree-trimming crews, conducted safety meetings, tree trimming orientations, licensing and certification training sessions, scheduled vehicle and equipment maintenance, managed a successful tree trimming division.
