I was a structural bodyworker for 35 years, working with people to heal their bodies, minds and spirits from accidents and other traumas and I had a spa company for 13 years working with hotels to create an in house spa service that employed over 50 massage therapists. While I loved my work, my passion has always been cultural transformation. It began when The Hunger Project brought me to California to manage the People-to-people Initiative and I had the opportunity to coach and support over 300 communities across the USA in creating projects and programs to "Take Care of Their Own." Thus creating a social safety net in their communities. To support the volunteers, I created the "Leadership Empowerment workshop that empowered them to find their commitment and passion that had them be more effective in building local infrastructures in their communities to support those in need. Using what I learned from this Initiative, I've continued to volunteer and work to empower people to be involved and care for their communities. What I've discovered is that effective communication is key to people developing the skills to enroll others to participate with them and work as a team. Working with The Hunger Project transformed me to be the possibility for a world without hunger. I've realized that their are two types of hunger. Hunger of the body and hunger of the soul. I continue to work to feed people through a local organization called Respecting Our Elders, where we pick up fresh foods from local markets and distribute to seniors in the area. Each week we feed over a thousand families with an all volunteer network. Climate Change/Global Warming has also impacted our ability to reduce the amount of hunger in the world so I've worked with local and international organizations to change the culture to be more ecologically wise and reducing their ecological footprints. We all hunger to have our lives matter and to make a difference. Each project that I've worked on from "Healing the Waters" to The Sustainable Enterprise Conference has called forth individual commitment and given participants pathways for expression. When we know we make a difference we know that our lives matter. I would like to work with committed teams especially young people who love this beautiful Earth we all live in and help them be more effective to make a difference.
