Worked to harness game-changing technologies to provide the Army with new war fighting capabilities. Spearheaded efforts of 12,500 scientists and engineers working in six research, development and engineering centers, two analytical organizations and six prototype development facilities; to explore nanotechnology, biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence.Developed and implemented the Command's cyber security strategy to safeguard information systems, networks, manufacturing infrastructure and weapons systems.Shepherded the execution of the Army's Security Assistance Strategy to fulfill 5,200 Foreign Military Sales orders worth $179 billion.Chaired key governance boards within the Army including ammunition, depot maintenance, cyber, installation planning and distribution.

Served as Commanding General and Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Support Command and Sustainment Center of Excellence at Fort Lee, Virginia.Led the Army’s third largest training organization, responsible for a diverse set and a complex set of core competencies.- Trained Soldiers selected for logistics and sustainment occupational specialties in essential military and and career skills. Over 185,000 Soldiers matriculated in two years' time. - Developed doctrine and supporting curricula enabling the Army to effectively execute logistics and sustainment functions as it conducts operation with joint forces, other U.S. Government agencies, multi-national forces and allied governments.- Designed, developed, and integrated sustainment capabilities into combat units at all levels to improve responsiveness and foster innovation; which led to the creation of a “Sustainment Think Tank” which focused on future Army logistics doctrine and organizational designs needed to meet the demands of the mid-21st Century. - Developed, programmed and managed a $215 million annual operating budget to run the organization.

Served as a brigade commander and chief executive officer of the 10th Sustainment Brigade in Ft. Drum, New York from 2004-2006.Ensured the brigade was fully staffed, equipped, trained and operationally to deploy to Afghanistan.Planned, synchronized and executed the movement of the brigade and approximately 1,300 Soldiers from Ft. Drum to Bagram Air Base.Assumed duties as the Commanding Officer of the Joint Sustainment Command and served Senior Logistics Advisor in Afghanistan from 2006-2007.Designed and established 70 key logistics and transportation nodes, valued at $11.8 billion, to enable shipment of materiel needed to sustain over 35,000 Soldiers, Marines, Airmen, and Sailors from ports in Pakistan and Northern Europe.
