The VP, Officiating role is to develop and implement ATP Tour policies and programs related to ATP officiating as well as research and development in the area of technology. As well, the VP provides leadership and support for the Officiating Department and on external bodies relating to rules protocols. The position is based at the International Headquarters in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida and reports to the Vice-Chair. The position requires extensive domestic and international travel.

The Director of Officiating manages, organizes, and supervises all the chair umpires on ATP World Tour in 60 tournaments played in 30 countries on six different continents. The Director of Officiating (Administration) communicates with the tournaments concerning all officiating matters. He works in the ATP World Tour Headquarters in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, where he is managing the administration within the officiating department, working closely with the Executive Vice President of the Rules and Competition. During the year, he is responsible for making a yearly schedule for the chair umpires, evaluates the chair umpires, and then writes an annual year-end performance review. He is monitoring all the training and education of the chair umpires, leads the recertification process that determines the badge level of the chair umpires, and oversees the recruitment of new officials.The Director represents ATP in various capacities, such as at the international officiating schools in cooperation with WTA, ITF and the Grand Slams, the representative at the yearly recertification committee, and the ITF Technical Commission. The Director additionally works as a Supervisor on the ATP World Tour, acting as the lead representative of ATP on site at an ATP event, and ensures that each tournament strictly adheres to the rules of ATP. The Supervisor works in close cooperation with the Tournament Director, both in the time leading up to the tournament and during the tournament, and this collaboration benefits the ATP, the tournament, the players, and the fans. In the role of Supervisor, the Director will travel to at least 12 tournaments around the globe, where he is the final arbiter of rules decisions, and monitors virtually every aspect of the tournament. The Supervisor works in close contact with all ATP personnel on site in order to coordinate their efforts and ensure a consistent voice is communicated to the tournament, as well as to the players.

The Full‐Time Supervisor and Chair Umpire job requires an official to be committed to working for the ATP on an exclusive basis. The Supervisor’s role is to work at assigned tournaments as well as to perform work at home when not traveling. The Supervisor is responsible to comply with all ATP policies and procedures as well as requirements that are defined by the Executive Vice President, Rules & Competition of the ATP.The Supervisor reports directly to the Executive Vice President, Rules & Competition.Required Skills and Attributes: Significant experience as an international tennis official with a sophisticated knowledge of the Rules of Tennis and the ATP Rules and Regulations are required. Individual must possess the ability to communicate (including necessary language skills) and deal effectively with a variety of individuals with varying backgrounds, including officials, players and tournament personnel. Must also be able to identify and solve problems and to determine when additional action is required. The ability to learn from past experiences of reported occurrences or problems and to use this knowledge to anticipate similar incidents from occurring in the future is mandatory.
