With a M.A. in Museum Science, I possess the skills necessary to manage a property database and have professional familiarity with paleontological, anthropological, biological, and fine art objects. I did extensive inventory and catalogue work with new collections, existing collections, and objects that were mis-catalogued for the Museum of Texas Tech University. I also worked with the museum’s photographer on documenting objects for exhibition catalogues. Further, with a B.F.A. in Glassblowing and Glass Sculpture, I have professional experience with fine art and interacting with high-profile artists and their works on a personal basis. I work well with people – I’m a good communicator, easily understand others’ concerns, and am good at handling deadlines: prioritizing, multi-tasking and follow-through. All of these characteristics were employed during my term as president of the Museum and Heritage Student Association which involved detailed involvement with budgets, meetings, negotiations, public relations, networking, and establishing goals and priorities. I worked closely with a wide spectrum of individuals: students, faculty, guest lecturers, administrators, board members, and donors. In addition to contributing specialist, departmental and client support, I can also offer hands-on experience in assessing both the environmental and physical conditions of stored works. My thesis research examined the fungal diversity of the museum’s controlled environment and recommended policy changes to improve handling procedures for vulnerable objects.
