Lars holds a bachelor’s degree in International Emergency Management from UiT- The Arctic University of Norway, this is underpinned by a proven foundation in leadership and operational management from his military service and international humanitarian work.He started his military career in The Norwegian Coastal Ranger Commando (CRCDO/KJK) and has specialized within several diciplines as well as working with operations planning, exercises and training as an operations officer (OF-1). After leaving the Norwegian Armed Forces (NAF) in 2016, he left the military to work with humanitarian mine action operations. Due to his key competencies, he is a highly valued part time instructor in different branches of the NAF.With Norwegian People's Aid Humanitarian Disarmament (Mine Action) department, Lars advised on all levels of project management, and was the Head Office main focal point for a widespread and large portfolio of international programmes; Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen, Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro and Bosnia. He played a key role in establishing emergency management protocols for the wider portfolio, as well as advising on several safety and security matters.Due to his extensive training and experience in trauma medicine, Lars has advised in pre hospital emergency medicine in accordance with Tactical Emergency Casualty Care and Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TECC/TCCC) principles and guidelines. He has been central in developing new standards and delivery of training which has later been adopted by the Mine Action community as best practice.He has travelled extensively across Africa, Asia and Europe, including to high risk locations such as Mosul, Iraq and Mogadishu, Somalia. Cultural understanding and risk management has been key in his role liaising and working with national governments and other stakeholders. Lars has a proactive approach to Emergency Management, Crisis Communication and Risk Management, and uses his degree in International Emergency Management and hostile/austere environment experience to its fullest advantage.His leadership style is based on a strong analytical and logical approach and knows that the way to success is hard work and tough decisions. Lars brings new ideas and innovation to teams and management and is not afraid to challenge the status quo. Lars manages projects with a focus on smooth processes, and his ability to explain challenging concepts in an easy way has made him a good relations builder through his career and time as an instructor. He is a father of two, a paraglider pilot, climber and outdoors man.
