5 years: Development of a cloud-based SaaS offering (on greenfield) for the construction industry for a global power tool manufacturer based in Stuttgart as a new business area.I led the initial engineering team of an in-house startup at our client and designed the application architecture based on principles of immutable event logs. The team started at zero, setting up Azure cloud, CI/CD processes, infrastructure automation, monitoring stack, developer tools etc. like setting up your own company. We built and shipped the MVP and rolled it out to first customers. After that I led and grew the engineering to over 25 engineers organised in 4 teams and coached colleagues to grow personally and taking over responsibilities. I advised product and UX design on strategic issues, technical feasibility and implementation and supported road mapping and sprint planning2 years: Practise Lead IT ArchitectureDuring my first two years at Novatec I was a line manager for a team of 14 consultants forming the IT Architecture practise. I was responsible for personal development, hiring and compensation. To focus on technical leadership and my tech lead role in the SaaS development I passed the role on to a colleague to focus on technical leadership.

I was responsible for the methodology and tools used by the functional and technical design team consisting of 15 colleagues (total project approx. 120 employees) as well as for the design of the service-oriented application architecture and the component model. Together with 2 colleagues, we designed a new structure for the system, which was then implemented within 6 months in a major refactoring. In conjunction with a step-by-step adaptation of a new project approach, we were able to deliver the project successfully in iterations.During the course of the project, I further developed and optimized the project approach with a focus on business / IT alignment, trained new team members on the application architecture and the project approach, expanded the model-driven design tools, continuously monitored software quality, evaluated use cases for new technologies such as using Elasticsearch or embedding camunda BPM and supported project management on road mapping and iteration planning.

2 years: Enterprise Architect, Domain Architect and Business Analyst in the insurance industry I developed the business architecture and processes for a new claims management system for an insurance company. Together with the customer, we developed a process model and established it within the company. We used BPMN 2.0 to model the business processes and UML using Innovator for Business Analysts to design the business services and business objects. The methodology later included executable processes as well as the service-oriented design of the application landscape.We advised the project management on an iterative-incremental approach and defined a roadmap for the next two years of the development project together with the domain specialists and managers. In the course of the project, we also successfully applied the methodology in the domains of policy management, commissions and collections and disbursements.1 year: Software Architect and Project Lead for a hybrid Java/SAP application Together with a team of 5 colleagues, I developed a custom application for personnel requirements planning in Java and SAP ABAP with integration of several SAP modules (HR, CO, PM) from different domains for a vessel certification company in Hamburg. In addition to my role as developer, I also acted as project manager and was responsible for the commercial aspects.
