Coming from a maritime family I decided to go to sea at a young age.The school I chose was the Maritime Institute Willem Barentsz on the Dutch island Terschelling. After having completed my studies I started working in de cruising industry.This is where I learned lots about hospitality, navigating, ship stability, manoeuvring, prioritizing and Bridge Resource Management. When I was let go by the company due to economic reasons I was happy to find a new job quickly on the Island where I had remained to live after school.The work that I do now as instructor on a bridge simulator means I am assisting maritime students from all over the Netherlands with developing into nautical professionals.A great benefit of working in education is that there are great opportunities to develop myself as well, which is why I enrolled into the part time Master "Maritime Innovations".Particularly interested in machine learning, maritime simulators and maritime innovation!
