This was an extremely complex project for migrating SAP ECC, BI and several other related applications from the existing data center in Southbury, CT to the new one in Philadelphia, PA. The project had to be implemented in a record time of 18 months including the procurement of hardware, installation of software across multiple environments, testing and setting up high availability/disaster recovery capability. There were additional challenges because of the involvement of multiple vendors. As the Project Manager, Roger was responsible for managing the team, developing the project plan, tracking the schedule, communicating progress and taking key decisions. Through the course of the project, he developed a reputation for being extremely fair in evaluating suggestions from various team members and yet very firm about meeting project goals and objectives. Roger was always approachable and over time, gained trust and loyalty from his team. On a personal note, I remember the long and engaging discussions with Roger on SAP Technical Architecture ! Although new to the subject, he was a keen learner and quickly understood the concepts. He then effectively communicated these highly technical ideas to other teams using simple and convincing language. I believe this is one of Roger’s strength’s and what makes him a great manager !
