Request, collect and refine design based on CFD and stress results (such as external aero blockage, system pressure drop and modal stress analysis). • Power assisted steering design comprising full hydraulic/mechanical design to meet requirements on assistance, trackrod loads, system hysteresis and reliability. • Rear wing DRS hydraulic and mechanical flap mechanism design with integration into space efficient pylon structure, minimising aerodynamic blockage.• Steering wheel design based on regulation, mass/strength/stiffness targets and driver lead requirements to define function, shape and comfort. Working in hand with electronics dept. to integrate bespoke PCB’s design.• Steering column design based on stiffness targets from a driver perspective and impact load case to ensure the deceleration target of crushable section is repeatedly achieved. • Throttle & brake pedals and surrounding components such as brake master cylinder and throttle damper designs. • Detailing and structural design optimisation of front inboard suspension components.• Design of hydraulic hardlines and hoses, aero evaluation assemblies, electrical installation, engine air and oil ancillaries. In 2012 OBR went from 132nd to 34th place in the world formula student ranking, from approx. 500 worldwide entrants.

Responsible for proof testing and FIA legality control testing of front and rear wing elements.Design tooling and reporting the FIA chassis homologation squeeze and crash tests.Proof testing of all suspension CFRP links, including fatigue testing at alternating environmental conditions.I established test procedures followed by designing relevant equipment, conducting or leading the test processes, reporting and issuing of results. Typical duties varied from bearing friction and stiffness tests, new materials test, suspension installation stiffness testing, CFRP joint testing, including proof testing of a range of other items such as; fluid reservoir pressure tests, throttle pedal and steering column load/torque/bending tests.Coordinating, monitoring and communicating with the various company divisions to ensure the manufacture and assembly deadlines were met.
