Hi, I'm Leslie Ann Shields, "L.A."​ for short, a Stress/Resilience & Health Optimizer, Behavior Change Counselor, Trainer & Coach (BCC, Health & Wellness, in-progress). Thanks for letting me introduce myself. My first career in Medical/Dental took off while funding my Masters! I was a successful Consultant for Healthcare Products from Corporate Drug Programs to Pharmaceutical & Surgical Supplies, including Dental Implants. Why share this? In career #1, I "Mastered" in the "corporate-culture." This serves me in career #2, my Clinical Masters, accomplished! I became a Behavioral Health Counseling-Psychology Clinician in Post-Acute Rehab, then Private Practice in 2005. In 2014, I re-joined interdisciplinary-hospital-based teams, running in-patient psychiatry groups, family & individual psychotherapy programming. In 2016 I became a Risk-Assessment Specialist for hospital E.R.s. My private practice was 50% telehealth starting in 2017 and 100% remote telehealth since August 2019.I combine my life experiences, training & passion for effectively helping people. I listen to life stories earnestly, supporting processing of difficult emotions safely & make learning new coping skills easier. Ever heard your issue called "Too Complex or Overwhelming?" Call me. I'm at ease with these! My passion is biofeedback training. I remain awed by it's creating more time, energy, mental clarity & comfort in one's own skin by teaching mastery of one's nervous system. My expertise is stress-resilience, emotional self-regulation, motivation, behavior change & stabilizing/optimizing mood & functioning for maintaining quality of life, plus improving personal growth & well-being. My expertise extends to diverse issues & populations. From stress to trauma, suicide to grief/loss & disability to neuro-cognitive issues of TBI, ADHD & Geriatrics. I use reliable, valid & evidence-based interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Seeking Safety, Positive Psychology, Family Systems and Solutions-focused Therapy. I couple these with my own 'AIRO-Approach.' The goal of all these is making learning, remembering & applying new tools, skills & beliefs easy for you/my clients and patients.
