When I joined Universal Robots we where a few persons sitting in a small project room, basically on top of a big pile of robot prototype parts, electronics, mechanics and drawings, trying to develop a robot that would revolutionize the world.I started with electronics, but as time went on I got more and more involved in safety and standardization. In 2010 I became an active member of the international safety standardization committee, which is the author of the international standards for robotic safety. At the same time I was still the developer of the electronics inside the robots, main writer of the embedded safety software and heavily involved in the safety design, manuals and legal documentation.In 2014 we started hiring more electronics engineers than just me, and I started moving from electronics development to be full time on strategic design and global compliance. In 2015 my employment officially changed to reflect my change in work activities. Later in 2015 Universal Robots was acquired by Teradyne for 285 mio. USD.I am proud of being a key employee in the development of this successful company, especially knowing that all robots sold at the acquisition time was entirely my electronics design.

After graduating in electronics I was headhunted to design power electronics for a robotic drive. The robotic drive formed the platform for a scientific research project on FPGA control of robotic joints.In the meantime I came to know Universal Robots who was located close by. I helped them with some electronic issues in their early prototype design. When I was about to move for a job in Copenhagen, the founders asked me to join UR instead.

As an intern I designed an ultra low cost ID-system to be used inside all Linak DESKLINE actuators. The demand was 500.000 units per year. I came up with a solution that was a microcontroller based, backwards and forward compatible, flexible in terms of configuration and calibration motor constants.I designed everything myself, including functional concept, circuit diagram, communication protocol, assembler software and PCB layout.After my internship I was hired to assist in development of a "mains cut-off unit" for the DESKLINE actuator control boxes. It basically reconfigured the toroid transformer into a sub-watt flyback converter under stand-by, still with energy enough to keep the remote control IR circuitry alive.
