I have spent more than 25 years in the trenches working on a wide range of systems from multiplayer games to software for operating theaters on anything from small devices to large scale server farms. My favorite kind of project is something I have never done before, and the most interesting project is the current one.Over the last decade, my role has evolved from hardcode development to include solution architecture and coordination. However, I insist on being firmly attached to the keyboard and code, as they are my connection to the creativity that ultimately drives me.I am proficient in a wide range of technologies ranging from databases, backend and microservices communicating through Kafka, GRPC and Rest to hosted applications and web frontends. But I find that communication skills are becoming even more important as challenges become more complex and the stakes become higher.My attitude to most things I do is that I want to be indispensable, not because of what I did yesterday, but because of what I’ll do tomorrow.
