I help software companies design scalable software systems by supporting them with solving architectural challenges, mentoring, and coaching developers as well as decision-makers with my company Lasssim.I started my professional life in chip design, but I’ve always loved software more. Not just because software is way more agile than hardware development, but because tackling bigger problems at higher levels of abstraction is more appealing to me. This also explains my love for Software Architecture and Microservices in particular.In my years working at Runtastic I helped to scale their backend, infrastructure, and mobile apps from a couple of users to more than 130 million registered users and 245 million app downloads. I supported their transition to an agile development process by being part of the core project team and designing the architectural guidance process for the feature teams.During this time Runtastic was acquired 2 times, in 2013 by Axel Springer for €22 million and in 2015 by adidas for €220 million.After the acquisition by adidas I contributed major parts of the design of the integrations between both companies.In 2019 I decided to found my own company to use my know-how to support startups as well as established companies.Besides being a tech person, I’m happily married to my wife Stefanie and a proud father of my kids Ellena and Jannik. In my spare time, I love to play Ultimate Frisbee and Tennis and do some woodworking. Occasionally I DJ at parties with my customized Technics decks.
