About Marcus Baker
Hi.I am currently a senior engineer at Sensat, helping to develop a visualisation platform for the building industry. Currently working in the infra team (pulumi Typescript/AWS/scaling) and acting as DBA. Previously worked combining 3D graphics with GIS (Three.js, Typescript, WebGL), in particular viewing pointclouds. Often called in to help out on other code and APIs in Typescript and Golang.Past roles have also been as lead/senior developer in start ups as they transition to stable companies. My knowledge is mainly in system building, but also in programming languages, testing, databases, code quality and high discipline agile developments.Recent-ish examples of work include scaling infrastructure globally, 3D graphics, GIS, terabyte scale social media, petabyte video storage and rendering, software architecture, and some lower level coding in C down to PIC chips.For side projects I was the co-founder and in past times president of the PHP London organisation, founder of the UK PHP conference, creator or co-creator of several open source projects (CGreen, SimpleTest, Phemto), authored regular programming columns and an occasional technical book reviewer.
