I work with both for-profit and non-profit organizations to help them organize, promote and manage better and more cost effective events. This includes screening, selecting and negotiating with service providers, venues, marketing channels, speakers and artists. I can execute all stage management, line production and logistical duties, including overseeing stage managers, technical directors, orchestra personnel managers and contractors, and off-site venue staff to produce elite programs. Responsible for booking, planning, and implementing special events including concerts, recording oral histories and outreach activities.

This was a temporary engagement to cover for the Membership Director who was on maternity leave. The job allowed me to set development goals while also directing fundraising through both membership growth and individual gifts. I managed both paid and volunteer staff while also liaising with major donors to bring in capital and increase exposure for the station. Formal training in Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge fundraising software was a nice perk.It was fun to play a part in supporting the station’s 80% audience growth and work with a great group of people who helped to advertise and promote 4 successful events and increase fundraising over the previous year in such a challenging economy.

I will always value my experience with WUMB. Here I planned, acquired and scheduled local and national on-air and internet programming for a folk and acoustic music station with listeners in all 50 states and 80 foreign countries. While my real job was to supervise, I frequently had to fill in pretty much everywhere, executing all aspects of station production including fundraising member drives, traffic, on air continuity, studio equipment operations, and web music streams. Events and media people have always interested me. In this job I was able to hire on-air and operations staff and develop them using my natural supportive/collaborative coaching style. I will always be proud of what we were able to accomplish here:We developed programming to support growth from a single local transmitter broadcast to a network of 5 over the air stations, a live internet stream, and 5 music streams from the WUMB web site; increased listenership from 13K to >60KWe built programming to support growth from a community to a public station. Developed operating procedures to ensure compliance with the Corporation for Public Broadcasting regulations We attracted prospective audience members and donors by collaborating on the annual Boston Folk Festival that drew ~ 2,000 participants a year. This involved booking, managing and housing musicians; we handled logistics and publicity, tooWe recruited, trained and managed between 50 and 100 volunteers to support and stage events on the Boston Common, Copley Square, Sanders Theater, and Somerville TheaterWe managed monthly membership concerts to reward new members; introduced a “plus-one” invitation element to encourage new members to invite friends, producing ~900 new qualified leads for membership per year
