Enterprise Network Consultant
Network Solution Delivery Architect
At Ensono I was responsible for engaging in project communications with the clients using a consultative approach, anticipating obstacles, and recommending solution options to mitigate. Reviewing proposed solutions prior to solutions being presented to clients, writing design documentation. During project delivery I was providing strategic technical direction on highly complex network projects or activities involving the selection and recommendation of design approach and systems technology. Many of the projects involved migration of clients from legacy Data Center to ACI with NSX on top, allowing them to deploy multi-tier applications across multiple security domains. Worked with PaloAlto on the edge and Cisco ASA or NSX ESG as internal firewalls, offered suitable load balancing through NSX or F5, using SSL offloading on the load balancer, developed application rules/iRules
Network Engineer
At Boeing I was heavily involved in the migration of legacy routers and switches in a data center environment to SDN, gaining hands on experience with Cisco ACI. Part of this work was to re-build Cisco ASA firewalls and F5 load balancers in line with the multi-pod/multi-tenant ACI environment.Working closely with the infrastructure team to build a new Dell VxRail Hyper-Converged Infrastructure and integrate it with Cisco ACI. This enabled us to expand our automation team to develop full stack solution to automate network maintenance and management tasks with Ansible, this involved customizing modules for ASA firewalls, F5 and Infoblox (IP allocation and DNS).I was also working on Boeing's Enterprise network connecting 10 branch offices and 2 additional data centers in a highly secure environment. In this network we deployed firewalls from multiple vendors and Cisco routers and switches. I was supporting an SSL VPN solution and our wireless infrastructure as well as future projects such as SD-WAN.
Network Engineer
With CableCom (later Glide) I was taking a technical lead on a range of projects delivering wired and wireless connectivity and managed services to customers.Configured and upgraded switches and routers, configured DHCP, NAT, ACLs, BGP, OSPF, VLANs and Spanning TreeAlongside the projects I was providing support in progressing 3rd level escalations from our Service Desk to meet or exceed SLA over issues such as Speed, latency, connectivity issues, IPTV, Telephony, Registration Portal and providing information to assist decision making by others.I was configuring SNMP monitoring and network management systems and assisted in the creation and maintenance of documentation.
Shift Engineer
In this role I was working in a dynamic, highly-pressured ITIL environment, carefully prioritizing the workload to meet all service level agreements and key business targets. I worked on a 24/7 shift pattern to provided telephone and ticketing-based customer support. My job involved supporting a variety of hosting and networking managed customer solutions, including physical/virtual Windows and Linux based servers, leased lines (Fibre, ADSL, MPLS and 3G connections), Cisco routers and switches, Juniper and Fortinet firewalls.I handled major incidents where multiple customers using many platforms were experiencing issues simultaneously.I kept detailed records of activities completed and liaised with third party suppliers to ensure issues were resolved to tight deadlines.Keen to develop knowledge and skills amongst my colleagues, I innovated information materials and was able to improve first-point-of-contact resolution rates significantly.I oversaw all out-of-hours duties, including stack management and communications regarding any planned engineering work.
Managed Service Engineer
Here I played a key role as the first point of contact for all IT-related issues, and for escalation from the Service Desk and ticketing systems. It was a large organisation and I supported over 1000 users operating 300 PCs, networked printers and portable devices. I also managed the email systems and monitored virtual servers.I successfully handled the configuration of the telephone system and any network connection issues, and monitored and maintained the LAN, carrying out any network-related tasks. In this employment I managed a complex installation project from beginning to end, including building a new network infrastructure, fitting six new switches, and installing new equipment in 23 rooms.I regularly helped to train new users, and solved any system/network issues, diagnosing and solving faults and replacing parts as required.I also supported the roll-out of all new applications.
Operation Support Grade
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, I was responsible for checking-in/supervising visitors, patrolling, escorting contractors and carrying out searches of buildings or property.I also carried out a number of administration and customer service roles, answering queries and consistently solving a wide range of issues with sensitivity and efficiency.
Detainee Custody Officer
I was responsible for escorting detainees in line with all regulations and guidelines, helping to maintain a culture of dignity and care.I was trusted to drive company vehicles, closely following all current legislation and tasked with keeping up to date with changing regulations. I carried out various types of searches: of individuals and their possessions, vehicles, and the locations where detainees were held.As the first point of contact for clients and colleagues, I used a range of communication tools, and also presented activity/intelligence reports to senior staff. I maintained the quality of databases and spreadsheets and carried out a number of key administrative functions, as well as training other staff on software and systems.
