About Laszlo Rakos
Currently I am working as a synthetic organic chemist at Novandi Chemistry AB. My responsibilities include synthesis of drug compounds and precursors for radioactively labeled drug compounds as well as contributing to our research activities.Until recently, I was holding a position as senior organic chemist at Larodan AB, where I was working with synthesis of lipids.I have 20+ years experience from project work in the pharmaceutical and chemical industry as a synthetic and medicinal chemist. My experience covers organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, synthesis planning, analysis and characterization of novel compounds, SAR analysis, resolving DMPK and safety related issues and IP evaluation.I have worked for three different pharmaceutical companies (Nycomed Imaging, Medivir and AstraZeneca) for a total of 17 years and have been involved in a wide range of drug research projects featuring antiviral agents, Alzheimer disease treatments, prodrugs and medical imaging agents. I have also been involved in the development of biodegradable polymers both for medical use and for marine antifouling coatings at a contract research organization (SINTEF) in Norway.I have been taking the role of coordinating chemistry activities in several projects and has been the chemistry representative in cross functional teams.I am a co-inventor of 13 patent applications and co-author of 8 journal articles. Since the shutdown in 2012 of AstraZeneca R&D Södertälje, until the end of 2016 i worked as a teacher in chemistry and mathematics, as well as completed pedagogic studies for a high school teachers degree at the university in Växjö.
