A large community event that happens every two years for Gaw families to welcome and honour their new family member(s). This was established to empower families by helping to heal the intergenerational trauma caused by residential schools.

The primary goal was to lessen the stigma about the Canadian Diabetes Association and to help build relationships between the association and people living on the four reserves in the Victoria area so they could have a strong working partnership to better serve the surrounding communities.
