As a Product Manager for Nortel's enterprise unit, I led an effort to bring the company's PBX/Unified Communications product line into compliance with the U.S. Federal government's security guidelines. I worked with representatives from the Department of Defense to identify and finalize their security requirements and then relayed those requirements to the Nortel product development teams for implementation.

Shortly after joining Nortel, I linked up with a group of senior developers and architects who were chosen to lead what was treated as a startup within the larger Nortel organization. As the youngest member of the team I learned a great deal about telecom and software development in general. During the process of rising to the position of Software Architect for the core call processing component within the solution, I was given the opportunity to push the boundaries on what enterprise PBX systems were capable of doing. The result of the combined team's work was one of the first multi-media, multi-modal Unified Communications solutions on the market (protected by a number of patents we filed along the way).
